Why so blue
WhySoBlue is a Mother-daughter project that took flight about a year and a half ago, out of their pure love for fabrics. Their personal closets are a testimony to the fact that no matter where they go, we dig deep and manage to find that one‘find’ of a fabric somewhere!
Shweta started off her career by working in the media industry, but realised soon enough that it wasn't her calling and finally quit her job. Although she had no formal training in fashion designing or styling, she knew that was a space that had always interested and intrigued her. She was looking for a partner to start up her project with- she needed someone who understood fabrics and the intricacies of stitching, cutting and the works. She says,"The next thing I know, I walked up to my mother, asked her to drop everything she was doing and told her my not-so-steady plan. I persuaded my mom to join me and see if we can whip up something together and that’s exactly what we did!"
Jaya on the other hand has been a seamstress for over 27 years and knew well about the technical aspects of designing and stitching. When Jaya is not working, she is cooking up a storm in the kitchen or gardening or simply reading a book. Shweta on the other hand hates cooking, is a dancer and loves watching movies.
WhySoBlue was a combined project of this Mother Daughter duo who love fabrics and classic cuts as much as everyone loves oreos.
The whole idea behind WhySoBlue was to make sure that we can give every customer that dream outfit keeping in mind their style, taste and budget. We wanted each piece that reaches our customer to be distinctive and true to their individual personalities. Which is why all of our designs are absolutely exclusive - we hand-pick each fabric and sketch designs with a pretty interesting trial-and-error process until we lock on the final designs.
What we love more, is taking our customers through the entire process of custom-making a piece. Each customer is dealt with personally and each product that goes out is taken care of and checked and re-checked before packing it with lots of love.
